All about Loop Pedals

With so many loop pedals available on the market it can be hard determining which one to purchase. Some of the loop pedals are basic while others offer more advanced features. The first thing you will need to determine before you purchase any loop pedals is to decide what you need it for and what type of results you hope to gain from it. If you plan on using the compression pedals at home you won’t need all of the extra features that the larger ones have. A smaller pedal would probably work best since it takes up very little space. However, if you want to be able to incorporate your loops into your recorded or live performances you may want to check the specifications on the loop pedals that you are potentially interested in purchasing.

Some of the features that you should look at before purchasing loop pedals include memory and recording length, ability to play multiple loops simultaneously, mono or stereo output, reverse looping, midi synch and number of switches or pedals. These are all things that should play a big factor in the type of loop pedals that you purchase.

The memory is imperative because some loop pedals only have a small amount of memory built in so you may want to consider purchasing one that is expandable that uses either USB ports, SD memory cards or that can be plugged directly into your hard drive. If you want the ability to be able to record loops at CD quality consider purchasing the Digitech JamMan stereo because it can hold up to over 30 minutes of recording, has a slot for 15 gigabyte SD memory card and offers a USB drive to plug in additional memory.

The other features are important as well for their own reasons. Just make sure that when you are purchasing loop pedals for the first time to research different brands and sizes before you waste you’re hard earned money on loop pedals that don’t benefit you at all. If you are unsure about what type of loop pedals to purchase consider talking to the sales person at the store to see if they can help you.
